Julia MD Photography

Julia Mustonen-Dahlkvist is a photographer & drone artist based in Sweden. Her artistic journey began as an international classical concert pianist, but a serious injury redirected her creative path toward photography. Having performed on stage from a young age, Julia found photography to be a powerful way to express feelings and tell a story, offering her a fresh perspective on art, now in visual form.

Julia’s work is a blend of visual and musical influences, with each image reflecting the echoes of her musical experiences. With a dedicated eye for capturing the subtle beauty of nature, she has developed a unique ability to create creative interpretations of various landscape motifs. Her photography seeks to unite the visual with the emotional, offering viewers a new understanding of the beauty.

In 2024, Julia embraced a new dimension of her artistry through drone photography. Fascinated by this unique perspective, she spent much time in Iceland, which became her creative playground. Over the course of the year, she logged 1,800 kilometres of drone flights to capture her favourite locations multiple times under with different water colors and light conditions.

Julia's series, Beach Cottages in Ærø, was shortlisted for the prestigious Sony World Photography Awards in 2024 and exhibited by the World Photography Organisation in London, Montreal, and Berlin.
